You won’t. Just try submitting it to several college literary reviews … they publish for free. Start there.

You could try sending it to publishers.
Also there is this site that lets you publish your own stuff and lets other people buy it from you and it doesn’t cost you anything unless you order copies of your own book.

make money from writing– what a concept.
Look up market on one of the many list of markets and submit your work. You don’t say is its a novel or short story, but the procedure is basicly the same.
You will be rejected MANY MANY times, and you need to have someone with writing expertise to check your work and give you advice on how to make it a saleable piece.

Because you say “story,” I’m going to assume it’s a short story. That’s a good thing, by the way — they’re much easier to publish than novels, but still not easy. Be prepared for a long road, and don’t get discouraged.
The best thing to do is look for a magazine that matches your genre. I can’t help there because you don’t say what kind of story it is, but a quick internet search will pull up hundreds of magazines accepting creative fiction. Some pay, some don’t.
One last word of advice: when submitting your story, make VERY sure you follow the submission guidelines to the letter. These places receive hundreds of submissions a day, and if you neglect something they ask for they likely won’t even bother reading your work — a shame considering all you put into it. Be as professional as you can (check the net for advice).
Good luck!
